Ultrasonography, otherwise known as ultrasound, is a simple examination in which the deep structures of the body are visualized by placing a probe on the body while recording the echoes of pulses of ultrasonic waves.  A doppler ultrasonongraphy is used mostly to examine cardiovascular blood flow.
